Duolight (Citylite) has been awarded the coveted German Design Award 2014.
The German Design Council was founded as a foundation in 1953 by decree of the German Federal Parliament. It supports the business world in all aspects of design and is one of the world's leading centers on design aspects.
The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its goal: discovering, presenting and awarding unique design trends. Every year, top-quality submissions from product and communications design are awarded, all of which are in their own way ground-breaking in the international design landscape. The German Design Award, started in 2012, is already one of the best-known design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles.
The competition places the highest demands on the evaluation of its prize winners: the unique nomination process ensures that only those products and communication design achievements are invited to participate which stand out with proven design quality.
An international expert panel is exclusively engaged with all nominations. The panel members conduct the evaluation in the individual categories of the competition based on their subject matter expertise. Here, intensive tests, checks and discussions take place before the announcement is made.
